One of the blessings of reading Scripture is that our relationship with the Lord becomes deeper and we begin to recognize just how BIG and mighty and powerful God is and how wonderful it is that He wants to fellowship with us through His Word and prayer!
But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start reading the Word. Or even if we’ve read through some of the Scriptures, we are searching for a way to be more consistent in reading the Bible each day but may not be able to find a way to hold ourselves accountable!
After all, the Bible is a big book! And each of its books contained within are unique and sometimes perplexing. (Try looking through a random chapter of Leviticus and you’ll see what I mean!)
It’s also easy to begin reading somewhere or just pick verses and random and then get busy and lose our devotional routine.
Maybe right now you feel the need to “pick up where you left off” in reading the Bible but your devotional life has slowed to a crawl these past few months (or years) and you want to start fresh and new! But we’re all busy and inconsistent and just need some direction sometimes!
So where to begin? (Or where to restart? If you’re like me and are trying to get back into a regular devotional time after the craziness of life has thrown you off that may be your question.)
After pondering some ideas for a Bible reading plan that embraced both simplicity and deep meaning, plus was long enough to keep us consistent but not too long that we become distracted, my mind continually came back to the Psalms.
The Psalms are written in poetic form and give us insight to the life of King David and the other writers of this Old Testament book of the Bible. These beautiful and timeless words reflect the joys and sorrows that were a part of the lives of the writers and are part of our lives today.
Often when we need comfort and encouragement we go to the Psalms. And it a great resource to turn to in these times! But this volume of Scripture ultimately teaches us who God is, through the use of songs and poems written on meaningful themes that seek to draw us into a deep and rich relationship with our Creator and Savior and a further understanding of His will and truth.
So I’d like to invite you to join me for 90 Days in the Psalms!
This simple Bible reading plan walks you through every single psalm in a matter of 90 days. Some days you’ll read two shorter psalms and other times one psalm will be stretched out over a length of days.
Each day’s reading schedule is manageable enough where you can play “catch-up” if you miss a day or two but also filled with many truths to meditate on as you go about your daily life.
How can you join in on this Bible reading plan? Just subscribe via email in the box below this post (or click this link if you can’t see the box). BE SURE TO LOOK FOR A CONFIRMATION EMAIL!
After you confirm your subscription, you’ll receive a welcome email with a link to your 90 Days in the Psalms download so you can get started reading right away!
Every two weeks throughout the 90 days, beginning Day 1, I’ll also be sending an email with a short devotional video and some background on the psalms we will be studying during that time period. I’m a mom of four and so some of my comments in the videos will be geared toward moms, but anyone at any stage of life can join in the reading plan!
It’s my prayer that your heart will be strengthened, your faith will grow stronger and your understanding of God and His truth will grow deeper as we study the Psalms together!
