I’m so excited to share with you an Advent idea I’ve had for awhile that, with the help of a designer friend, has become a reality!
Advent isn’t just a countdown to Christmas, it’s a way to think on and celebrate how Jesus was prophesied throughout history and how His first coming fulfilled the law so we could be made right with the Lord through His death and resurrection! It’s also a season to ponder Jesus’ second coming, to repent, and to prepare our hearts for that day where every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.
It’s fun to have Advent traditions to make these Scriptural truths more personal for our kids (and for us!). So I created a printable Advent calendar in the form of a banner, with Scripture verses for each day of this season.
All you do is print the banner out (preferably on cardstock) and then cut out the pieces, and paste the coordinating Scripture verse for the day on the back of each bunting piece! Your kids can do this with you if you’d like ;)
Then punch holes and attach pieces with twine or ribbon and hang up in your home, reading a Bible verse (or verses sometimes) for each day until Christmas!
The banner verses start on the traditional first day of Advent, which was November 27 this year. I realize that I’m getting this out a bit late, so you are welcome to jump right to December 1 and go through Christmas! Or you can print out the whole thing and just do two verses a day for awhile to catch up :)
Each “section” of verses follows the traditional Advent candle themes – Prophecy, Bethlehem, Shepherds and Angels – which all reflect the Scriptural truths of who Jesus is and how He is spoken of in the Word throughout time.
These verses lead us to Christmas Day when we celebrate Christ’s birth! There are two verses for Christmas Day that you can read as well that speak of Jesus’ second coming.
This free printable Advent Scripture Banner is available to my email subscribers! Subscribe by clicking here and entering your name and email address. You can also subscribe in the box below this post. After you confirm your subscription, you’ll receive an email with the download!
Have a blessed Advent and Christmas season!
